Why a no-parking zone?
A moving van is long and heavy and needs a space close to the door. In busy streets that space usually has to be reserved. If the van stands far from the entrance, every trip lengthens the day. A signed zone keeps the space free, and parked cars can be removed in time and legally.
How does it work?
- You apply to the traffic authority (Straßenverkehrsbehörde) or the public order office (Ordnungsamt) of your city. Some cities have an online form, others need a written application.
- Give the address, date, length of the zone and time period.
- Processing time and fee differ by city. Ask early.
- Signs usually go up several days before, often at least 72 hours. Check your city's rule.
- The zone must be visible to others. If someone parks there anyway, the authority or a towing service can help.
Think of both addresses
Check the rules for the old and the new address, even if they are in different cities. On longer routes, unloading may only happen the next day. Then the zone at the destination must cover that day. More under moving van and distance.
A common mistake: the application is late or made for the wrong address. Then there is no space on moving day, and delays or fines can follow. The guide on floors and access shows how much a short carry matters.
Our support
We are happy to help with the application and the signs. Tell us in the planner that you want the zone.
In the moving planner you state the parking situation for each address and tick "no-parking zone". We then come back to it with your quote.
